Has anyone else had this happen to thier calipers? DSC01017 by Rec 26 (SGT HEMI), on Flickr DSC01016 by Rec 26 (SGT HEMI), on Flickr DSC01015 by Rec 26 (SGT HEMI), on Flickr DSC01014 by Rec 26 (SGT HEMI), on Flickr DSC01013 by Rec 26 (SGT HEMI), on Flickr
Ive seen that before. Wwo ever did the last brake job allowed brake fluid to sit too long and ate through the powder coating.
I'm the only one that has touched those brakes for anything since I bought her back in '06. No brake fluid has ever touched any of my calipers. Just noticed it when I took the pics.
Oh ok. Have you ever used an abrasive wheel cleaner (spray on type) like Eagle 1, Mothers, ect...? Some of those products have an acid that can do the same thing if left on too long... Suck no matter what though.
Haven't used that either. I use car wash soap and water to clean my calipers. Any way of getting them repainted and if so, what type of paint should I use?
I had my painter paint my calipers normal Brilliant Black paint. Have not had an issue yet and they have been painted for a few years now.
I was kicking around the idea of just changing them from red to another color. Just undecided on black or blue. I am using blue as a secondary color inside my engine bay and getting a blue stripe painted on the exterior of my ride... But I'm keeping the brembo decal.....
Just read this thread, and it's old , but this happens to the brembo calipers due to the extreme heat they have to endure, i had a mitsubishi evo8 and the same happened to it, sometimnes when you are road racing if they get really hot the paint will start to peel, anyway that was just some fyi.
Is there anyway to stop that from happening? They have gotten worse since I took those pics. Still haven't had a chance to repaint them and I'm still debating on what color to paint them other than red.
I don't think that is true. My Brembos never did that and I road course. I have changed the white Brembo stencil to brown but never had that issue and mine are 6 yrs old.
