Wanted to make sure I have read correctly.....as long as I stay under 700 HP at the crank I can use 09 Chally half shafts with DRs or slicks???

I don't think a concrete number has been established yet (as far as I know). 700 at crank equates to about 625 RWHP, If you start sticking at that much power, the stock tranny, drive shaft and half shafts are all living on borrowed time.

i would tend to agree with kyle on this. i have seen cars snap those axles with less power..... it all has to do with "shock" loading. spin...grip.....spin.....grip.......

and less grip. Hal managed it on stock tires with the old half shafts. [oops, he said Chally half shafts... how much better did they make them?]

Or you could just get it over with in a very short episode of wheel hop.

Are the Challenger half shafts the same ones they use in the 392 drag pack? How are you going to compare to that? and didn't they do something to avoid wheel hop? lsd and something else?

The pre 09 SRT 215mm are 28 spline versus the post 09 R/T 215mm are 32. The 4 spline count difference means larger diameter at the spline for better strength.

Wonder why the chally's have wheel hop issues and chargers don't (at least I don't)...same damn car. Wheel hop will greatly increase the chance of breaking these or any ones half shafts.

And now the question is, what halfshafts to buy and where to get them?

For you, the 09 R/T's would be a fine upgrade. You can get them from Speedlogix in a kit, with everything you'll need for the swap. It's also a good idea to get new pumpkin seals, they can easily be damaged during the swap.
