Well one day it will happen to you. I am sure at the price you are charging for fuel lines it's not mixed and matched anyway. Some of us don't have that luxury when a customer drops of a box full of parts because they don't want to spend an arm and a leg on pre made stuff.
Thanks all for the support and help. And Kyle, the car still overheats. But I can't get it to the fuggin dealer, because the car is undriveable. I have a new GORGEOUS coolant bottle from Ralph as well. So once (if I ever) I get this problem fixed, she's going STRAIGHT to the dealer for a cooling system flush to hopefully nix that demon once and for all. But thanks for bringing it up......... We'll see what happens on Wednesday. I have one last fitting to replace and test. If that doesn't work, I'm sending it all to Ralph for testing. That dude has been my hero through all this. :worthy:
Using Teflon Tape on some systems is an accident waiting to happen. This I learned where I work. Just 1 "itsy-bitzy" piece of teflon tape (which can EASILY come off the leading end of a taped threaded fitting connection) can cause havoc in small valves, reguators, anythng with an orifice or internal sealing surfaces (like a valve seat) and flow devices (like fuel injector nozzles). I always use paste, plus you don't have to worry about the lapping direction of the tape. ..
However if you mixed brands of AN fittings..... that may well be your problem. They could easily not have the same length of "flare angle".....This exact length of the angle is not part of the AN specification. Only that it is SUPPOSED to be 37 degrees. By the way...you did make sure your fittings were all AN and not any SAE? The SAE has a 45 degree flare, it will definately leak up against a 37 degree flare. Pretty sure your hoses and the fuel rails all have AN fittings.....Where did you buy the "T"? The "T" fitting you mentioned in post #11 may well be the problem. SAE is the more common fitting found at most industrial hardware stores. ..
All my fittings and advice have come from Ralph. I trust him fully. They are all a 37* flare, no 45* bought in hardware stores. Preciate the help Nathan!
Got a guy that does transport work right in Alabama.....I am sure he'd give you a great price if you wanted to send the car up here
Pay travel, expenses, and I'll jump over a few states...fix the leaks, do the coolant flush, and take you and the wife to dinner. Nathan...Loctite PST can also cause havoc. I choose tape over PST because it's cheaper, cleaner, and it just works. Like anything else, use it wisely, and you won't have any issues. BTW...I am a power transmission distributor, and sell Loctite products daily. Need some Loc 567, let me know.
Walker came by tonight and helped. I don't feel like getting into ALL THE DETAILS, but we localized the problem. We have a couple more solutions. Right now, it's the BEST it's ever been, but still sliiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiightly leaking. Going to try the solutions over the weekend. I have a slight glimmer of hope......
