I just got a 2003 pt cruiser gt this year and I'm looking for suggestions on power adders???? Right now the car has a 2.5in cat back MagnaFlow exhaust and an MSD Blaster coil and i plan on putting on a cold air intake and hard pipe... I'm not sure what ells the previous owner has done to it
what we had already talked about. ok whats a reasonable goal your looking at as far as power, looks, handleing and we'll work back from there. browse this form and you'll see some other threads you may have questions about.
I no what i want for in looks... handling not sure i want to airbag it (how do airbags hold up in the cold its -18 here and theres 1/4in of ice on the driver side of my car) For power i don't want to do a LOT... yet i think ill put a stage 1 in in the summer along with doing the intake not sure what ells to do ??
im not sure how airbags handle in that cold of weather. it doesnt get that cold down were im at. there is quite a bit you can do for cheap, and take a look at the airbox mod in this forum. im sure you can benifit from a free mod like that. most other guys i knw dont run an intake they run the airbox mod with a K&N drop in and build there own intake pipe using the Spectra univeral intake parts from autozone or pepboys.
the only thing you can get is a cool air for our cars no one does an accual cold air there just isnt room, if you look at that thread you'll see once you remove a few pices that stock box can breath and provides a basicly a heat shield. yes, you can put any turbo on that an srt-4 can have just as long as you have the supporting mods to go with it.
My wifes Cruiser('04) has an aftermarket intake made by air-raid. So if you want aftermarket intake you could try looking up that company. I am planning on getting her a Diablo instead of the Mopar Stage 1. I hear the canned Diablo tune for the SRT4 was +10 whp +20 tq over my stage 1 gains...so for basically the same price seems to me the Diablo would be a much better deal. Plus it's a lot easier to swap out the tune, than the CPU...in case the car will need any warranty work.
can i get a computer that plugs into my car so i can have different power levels like what BullyDog has for diesel??
theres a thread about it in this forum http://www.srtconnection.com/forums/showthread.php?t=10942 talk with mike he'll get you running. and here the thread for the SRT-4 tune http://www.srtconnection.com/forums/showthread.php?t=9015&page=4 so you know what your getting.
Im look for something like that but pugs in and stays in so all i have to do it turn it on and get more power then turn it off when im just driving around is there anything like that??
Just load the tune, and don't romp on it if you don't want the power...why do you want an off switch? I don't see the benefit of that.:dunno2:
Well again, you could load your tune, then not romp on it = better fuel efficiency, and romp on it = more power. IDK all that much about the tuning, but it is my understanding the factory tunes run rich. With a tuning device, and the proper tune you could get both a MPG increase and net more power as well. With the only on/off switch needed, being the one in your head.
