1997 Volvo 850R Sport Wagon. Only 355 of these made worldwide. Designed to break the "boxy" reputation of previous Volvo's. Was raced on the European Sports Car Circuit for two years and won their division both years.

I have just over 300 front wheel horsepower. It is a turbo charged, five cylinder engine.

It has been lowered about two inches all around, has M&R racing springs, Bilstein shocks and struts, frame stiffening, and Good Year F1's.

It is a real sleeper and just wonderful to drive.

Wow, very nice indeedy...I was so very close to getting the 300 hp V70R prior to driving the MSRT but the rest is history as I couldn't justify the price difference vs. power and far greater utility of the Mag...That and I didn't what to be perceived to be a doofus yuppie shithead.

I've also always imagined that I'd one-day do a HiPo V8 conversion to a clean old 240//740/960. Friends just laugh and they don't get it but apparently a well converted V8 Vulva can be a stable, quiet, seriously quick car (and nearly invisible to cops, lol).

Our tech guy at work had a Volvo wagon and put like 280000 kms on it....whatever that is in miles lol. Definitely a sleeper. On Discovery, they had the Volvo wagon cop car Vs Crown Vic...I think it was a t/c 5 as well.

Happy to see that there are some other Volvo fans here.

Really to me the wagon style has a lot of attraction...just don't know how or why I have avoided buying a Maggie this long...

Hahaha, a youtubeclip from Sweden, not bad. There are quite a few V8 converted old volvos around, always great to see, especially when they´re well built!
The 900 series were the last "real" volvos with rwd and built like a russian cruiser, you couldn´t break it even if you tried to...
My 940 Turbo from -93 has 380.000 km on it (thats what the odo says, it could be a lot more...) runs witout a hick, takes no oil but lots of punichment.
Thats 237.500 miles for those who dont bother with the maths...

My 850R Sport Wagon went to a local attorney who uses it as a daily driver and will be autocrossing it in the spring!

He also was a Volvo lover.

I hated to let it go, but ran out of garage space. It had about 160k miles on it...and I bet he gets another 100k before the head cover has to come off!

I may buy another Volvo in the future...it was a wonderful vehicle.
