Valued members and guests. The SRT Connection would like to apologize for the recent outbreak of spamming this past week. We have been fortunate enough to have avoided spamming for the past 11 months, but have finally been hit, and hit hard. Over the past 6 days, the "C" has had over 250 registered spammers. These are ALL human spammers (we have bot spammers blocked) and have been keeping the staff extremely busy these past 6 days. Especially our IT guru, Mains. Mains has been working overtime to come up with methods to keep these AZZHATS from registering and cluttering our great forum with unwanted spam. Mains finally got the coeds written and implemented this evening, so by tomorrow morning we should be able to verify if these methods are working. We would like to take this time to give a huge thanks to some of the members who were quick to point out spamming in different threads. We would also like to thank the Staff for reacting in a timely fashion in using our "One step ban" button to rid this forum of these spammers. Since the mass joining of the spammers, I personally took 3 hours to clean up all of the soft deleted threads and posts from the spammers after their banning, and went through our 2100+ member list and cross referenced IP Addresses, email addresses, and the easiest, User Time Zones to ban any spammer that may have gotten past our alert Army (63 of them got through the front lines undetected lol). Thank you again for your patience and understanding in this matter, and we assure each and every one of you that will do our absolute best to keep spammers off of this forum. Sincerely, The SRT/C Partners.
I thought he was going to apologize for spamming my email, then I realized it was the news letters :stars::future::future::ronlove:
Here's an idea: Before anyone who just registers can post, they have to wait for review of some sort or provide some other information... Basically, vet new members before giving them the abiltiy to post. I'm sure we don't get 50 new legit users a day so something like this may be plausible if there's a tech way to do it. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure!!!
Although a good idea, I find this really annoying as a new user, as I usually join a forum to ask questions/look at blocked pictures, etc...and for me to have to wait to post, I usually get bored with that, and go find another place. And don't forget about the bunch of Caliber owners that came here a little while ago... I know other forums that have had similar efforts done as well...some of the spammers were posting jokes, which although spam, was funny to read  Mind you, the porno ones weren't so much... As a Moderator at other forums, I know the amount of work and effort put into keeping a site clean, so I say congrats, and keep up the good work!!!!
I got to ban/delete my first spammer this morning and was shocked at what they are posting keep up the good work you guys
I think that a bunch of us still check in over here, but I find that I don't post as much as I did when I first joined/over at the other forums
