overhead ambient lighting... for $10

    I fixed my previous hideous install with this nice metal 5mm LED holder from Radio Shack and changed out the blue LED for a green one to better match the gauge colors. Much better!!

    This green LED is 630 mcd at 2.1V... which requires 500 Ohms series resistance. I'm wired with 800 Ohms to knock the brightness down a bit but if I had it to do over again, I'd use 500.

    The location of the LED holder shines directly down onto the storage in front of the ashtray. The lighting pic seems a little dark but my camera doesn't have much of a long exposure setting to capture dim lights. It's again just enough to see what you set down there without being a distraction.
