I normally work on a Durango so I thought putting btake pads on my rear disk brakes on my 2007 caliber would be a snap. But now I have a problem. I can't remove the caliper and its old pads until I remove the brake line that sits in front of the top caliper bolt. My service manual says Remove the clip (3) securing the rear flex hose to the trailing link mounted bracket Remove the flex hose from the bracket. I see the clip, or something that looks like it could be a clip on the forward-facing side of a mounted bracket, but the manual doesn't tell me how to remove it and beating and prying it with old wood chisel have not done the job. So how does the darn thing come off? Do I need a special tool of some kind? Or a common tool used in a certain way? And now a related problem. I tried to thread the brake tube nut at the rear flex hose to the hose connection and turn it tight. For some reason, I could not. I see about a half inch of thread coming out of the nut that I think I should tighten down to secure the brake line to the bracket and brake flex hose, but I haven't been able to get those threads to catch and tighten. Is there a trick to screwing that puppy in and tightening it down that isn't obvious? Thanks in advance
Wish I could help...but my brakes are simple. Only two bolts to remove/install the calipers. So I have no useful advice. :bump:
To remove the brake Caliber, you will need to remove the two 14mm bolts that mount it to the bracket on the spindle. The upper bolt will be just the 14mm socket and the air ratchet. The lower bolt will require the addition of the 3" extension as the air ratchet will not clear the brake shield. You can also use a ratchet and cheater bar. If you need pics google search the rear caliper you'll see the holes on the whole caliper where you would need to remove.
HE LIVES! Also, arent you a mod? lol or just for the other section? I cant move him unless he is in SRT8 land.
