As many of you know, My son Jared joined the US Navy last June. Last Thursday Jared made another huge accomplishment by graduating from dive school. Jared is now at the Naval Explosive Ordnance Disposal School at Eglin Air Force Base in Fort Walton Beach, Florida. After completion of EOD school Jared will be off to Fort Benning Georgia for jump school. Ken
Very cool, Ken. What he is about to accomplish is no easy task. The Navy has the hardest EOD training and the BEST!!! I was a Combat Engineer in the Army and would have LOVED to have gone to Naval EOD school... My hats off to a GREAT soldier. Wish him well for us please.
I forgot to mention that the Naval EOD is also the MOST rigorous. The instructors will TRY and break the trainee's down so that they can weed out the week links (not a bad thing though). This makes for a very strong team. As I know you are, we are just so very proud.
Ken, tell Jared congratulations. I can tell you from experience that diver training is no joke. EOD personnel (and interpreters) are some of our most valuable assets here in Afghanistan.
Thanks again my friend. Thanks Bro. Thanks Chris. Thanks Steve. Thanks Ron. Thanks Rick, and stay safe my friend. Ken
You can surely be proud of YOUR SON on his accomplishments!!! Our son also went to diving school in Long Beach Calif on a full scholorship and graduated top three in his class and started as an underwater welder, then worked for a Nueclar Power Plant in Toledo, Ohio, changing "blue water" nuclear rods... and now is a welder on land based "HIGH" cranes!!! He is NOT in the service, however.
Jared did it, and graduated at the top of his class. Now he's off to Fort Benning Georgia for jump school. Tomorrow night ( 1-25-11 ) on the Military Channel at 7PM will be a segment on the Navy EOD school. I think that CRAB looks great on his chest!! Ken
