Hey folks. A friend has a cool new blue Caliber with the 5-speed. She wants to upgrade the rubber/plastic shift knob to something cooler with less 'cutaway' and that matches the blue accents of her interior. 1. Need knob suggestions/supporting vendor links. 2. Need to know how the knob gets replaced (threads? pin? set screw?) If it helps, she's a redhead and damn hot. Pics could happen if the product is right. Thanks everyone!
First for red head pics!!! :woot: Billet Technology had shift knobs but not sure how adaptable they are for the CSRT here are the ones for the NSRT http://www.custombilletstore.com/category_s/91.htm
Thanks Nevin! No answer at BT when I called, so I'll try back later and find out if they work on the CSRT.
To bring this back from the dead... Its a super easy shifter to remove. 1. Grab it firmly, and yank it straight up 2. Look at shifter in your hand. This is what my shifter looks like: I kept the stock knob, but got a leather boot for it.
Yikes... That could happen if you get airborn or something while shifting or just hanging onto the knob right?
Or power-shifting into second when drag racing, 'cause you accidentally pull up when shifting. LOL! Nice to see they Dodge didn't get to far from there SRT4 roots with the Caliber... Oh and where are those :gotpics:?
LEt have a look at this how beautifully he captured the picture. I didn't aware about it but now Its clear me too...
How can I shorten the shifter on my car? I have a 1991 Toyota Celica GT 5-speed. I just bought a new shift knob, its more in the shape of a ball rather than the stock cobra head shape. I was wondering if I could make my shift stick shorter. My shift boot doesnt reach the shift knob now. I know I see sports cars with really short ones that helps you shift faster.
If all you want is to make the shaft shorter, take a hacksaw or cut-off wheel to it. Then you can make it as short as you want it. Don't know if that will actually help speed up you shifting though. When you're talking about a short throw shifter, I don't think they are actually referring to the length of the shifters shaft.
No they are not talking about a shorter shifter. It is "geared" different which makes it shorter to throw it back and forth. I have a 58% shorter one in my neon SRT4, the caliber one is still stock.
