Ever since we installed my new motor in August it has had a hard start and pretty bad city gas mileage. I figured it was due to the advanced cam, torque converter, and incomplete tune. Well 2 weeks ago, I noticed that my AFRs were fluctuating again. I've been driving on the same tune for a few months and I knew the adaptives were well established. I was going pretty fat on decel, down to 13.0 and few high 12's. So Friday I popped the hood to listen for anything odd...heard a crack type of sound from the injector area, figured it was a sticking injector. Put a can of SeaFoam in the gas tank... Holy crap my injectors must have been dirty for a while. The car is so much smoother now, no more hard start, AFRs only down to 14.0 on decel and improving with more mileage, no more lag from a stop, decreased lugging under 2k RPMS. I'm figuring that the injectors got gummy while they were in storage for 3 months after the motor blew. Everything looks good now. I'll probably take them out when I get a chance and have them professionally cleaned too.
They only have about 4k miles since the new motor went in and about 12k total since they were installed. I'm 99% sure it was the 3 months they sat idle that caused them to perform poorly.
