Way to go Jeff. See West Coaster are fast too. Just need better track conditions. I guess the tow to ATCO was worth it. http://www.lxforums.com/board/showthread.php?t=244030
Gawd damn, he has to weigh in around 3500 pounds with him in it. I remember reading he was shooting for 3000. I'm never the one to doubt someones motives, but what the hell is he thinking buying the car he bought and trying to really go fast by going light. Stick a 6.1 in a Dart Demon and be done....but hey, the world is your oyster, kick ass Jeff!
Kyle, many of the cars at ATCO this week are stripped. Many would not pass tech inspection at a track that followed NHRA guidelines. No roll bars or cages, no tranny blankets, etc. That's why they have to rent the track. I suggested over on LX that they have a full weight class and wondered if they had to pass tech. Almost started a riot. Dan and I PM'd about it. Many think they have race cars. They are not, well at least in the strictest sense of the word. They wouldn't pass tech, and they wouldn't have a chance it whatever class the would have to run. So they're just having fun and trying to see who can be top dogs in the LX/LC community.
I think he bought it because it was a neat car. Then he started taking it to the strip. Then he started wanting to go faster. I think when I saw him at Infineon he was pretty much stock except for maybe DRs? Maybe headers? And every single time, he's running faster than every other car that's pretty much just like his.... perfect launch every time, etc. etc. I'm thinking he made some deal with the Devil Way to go Jeff!
I kind of remember the same progression. I think the race stripes started it......maybe the car should be called Chrsitine. Still great times. Congrats Jeff. It still seems like yesterday we thought it was something big to get to the 12's. ..
Thanks alot guys!! I bought the car because it was a badass 4-door I could transport the family in. Then we got a third car and it became a toy. 3500 lbs without my 250 lbs. I have a rollbar and everything I need to pass a strict tech inspection (like at Infineon Raceway). I made about 30-35 passes the past two days with about 10 runs in the 10s. Drivetrain is rock solid. Took a while to get to this point. I won the 6.1 N/A class and was the overall winner (I had the largest margin of victory in the finals). I won some American racing headers/midpipes, a predator, some billet fuel rails, $350 and some other cool stuff. Overall the best drag racing experience I ever had. I ran in -1900' DA last night and there was ice on my car. Got my best MPH ever but couldn't get the car to hook. My 10.84 run was in -350 DA
So now we just need the rest of you guys to get out here and then its on! Not his 10.84 run...but heres one of his runs that I got... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jceBn5zkU_0
Excellent breakdown of the situation. Well stated. Always nice to read about folks going fast. To add to these and Dookie's comments - what a lot of folks don't like to read (me being one of them) on certain forums etc. is that when some keyboard warriors start talking about how "x" blower or "y" cam or "z" engine and tune is the shiznitz because of the time a car puts up, all the while ignoring or, even in some cases when they're not running at an event where everyone is there, sandbagging the fact that they just dropped 800 pounds on the way to the staging box. The third parties who engage in the "Oh, well this set up ran this and you're only running that, so this is better, more powerful set up" proxy brainfarting are even worse. Wheels and weight really make a difference in what is rotational, unsprung stuff that needs to be moved by the engine, and in the world of interwebs comparos and pissing contests, its usually something that gets sneezed past. Mine is actually more of a beef with the latter keyboard warriors. Folks actually making the lights blink and running their best with what they've built, tuned, gutted and run is all good, and I especially like when they are straight about what they're actually running. As a selfish aside, I also get a giggle about the year plu$ long build$ that can't get two clean and consistent runs strung together after much chest beating and puffery and zalezmanzhip, complaining about traction, all while some humble weekend racers lay down some nice, consistent times, pb's and killer launches late in the day. If you're hitting the rev limiter, your transmission isn't getting it done, or your tune needs some help, or both. You'd figure folks would get that nailed down with $$$$$ and a whole calendar full of build time.:aggressive: again, well stated above....
Sheesh, couldn't have set the bar any higher could you jeff? lmao Congrats on an amazing accomplishment! We all know you worked hard to get it! Hopefully see more 6.1 NA in the 10's! :worthy:
Thanks for posting that. I think we will. Hemiwagn is very close with his Magnum Here is a vid of a 10.96 run: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bTVOPYPDdHg
