Keep in mind laws sometimes differ greatly state by state, so advice you might get from a (pick a state) cop might not be applicable in your case. But ask away. There are a couple here who might give their $0.02 if they can help... :busted:
If he's asking advice re a fix it ticket or sumptin', an out of state cop might not have the answers he's looking for... edit, I'm just ASSuming b/c 99% of the time people ask for LEO's "advice" on car forums it's b/c some cop gave them a ________ fix it ticket/equipment violation...
BBBBBBBUHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAA!!!!! :supergay: Hey Chase, I gotta admit, when I saw the title, I was thinking the same thing...hahahaha:secret:
Actually it has nothing to do with a ticket, already had enough of that crap for awhile. :bs: anyways........ I get home yesturday after picking up my daughter from daycare, grocery store etc.. while Im upstairs checking my email and forums, theres a knock at the door. This guy was asking if we had a gas can he could barrow with gas if posible so he could make it to the gas station. I figured what the hell why not, its pouring rain and he looked like he could use a break. So I gave him one of the gas cans i had with about a gallon of gas that was about 6 months old LOL. when I came back to the door to give it to him, he gave me 5 $1's folded up together. I didn't really think much of it. Figured he if didn't return the can the $5 would cover the cost of the gas can. well 3 of these 1's all had the same serial the other 2 had the same serial as each other but not as the other 3. the ink looked like it was starting to run from being wet and was also not the identical color as normal ones. they are also not the exact same size as a real $1. there are several other slight differences, but at a glance you'd swear it was real. My question is, which authorities would be the best to take these to?
You can turn them into your local PD... also provide a description of the guy and whatever else you remember. They MAY direct you to the Secret Service, but unlikely considering the denominations.
Secret Service http://www.secretservice.gov/forms/ssf1604.pdf But I wouldn't bother. It's going to be kids or something who originated them. Nobody serious counterfeits $1 bills. It's like counterfeiting dimes. $20s maybe and far and away I think $100s are the counterfeit bills of choice. You might want to take it to the local PD since it looks like maybe some lowlifes are pranking the homeless or pan handlers or it's kids (stupid ones). That's my guess.
See if they work in vending machines. If you're concerned, like stated, just drop them off at the local PD with a description. [Real] money plays they won't follow up on it... I think it's funny that the guy volunteered to pay you with fakes lol.
