http://www.autoevolution.com/news/mopar-426-elephant-hemi-v8-revealed-28185.html Well, this crate engine thing seems to be becoming a trend over at Mopar... first the 392 was a crate only, now it's in the '11 Challenger... next... 426? I heard Gilles stated they were seriously considering bringing the BARRACUDA back... what a perfect home for this engine! Juss sayin'...
That Top Gear episode was cool! Once I get the Raptor I'll have to alternate weekends of skydiving and desert running.....did I tell you I love my job? LOL My car is in the shop right now getting all the bushings replaced. I'm excited about getting it back later this week. The shop "seems" top notch and are doing about a hundred miles of suspension tuning/retorquing everything. Wooohoooo!!!!
For the cost of that motor you can do better and make more power for the money with any of the vendors we have.
Heck I'd not put this in my car... I'm thinking like the 392, it'll eventually end up a production engine! Lol
Am I the only one who caught this? In addition to the 426 Hemi, Chevrolet also brought the 2011 Mopar Challenger V10 Drag Pak, the first and only 500-plus cubic-inch V10 drag-race package car on the planet. In the Drag Pak Challenger, the 8.4-liter engine is mated to a two-speed automatic transmission and is built for sanctioned NHRA Stock and Super Stock configurations. Pricing begins at $85,512 (€63,972) excluding an added roll cage, net and harness, which costs an extra $7795 (€5,760). Production begins early next year.
I would like to see the build specs on the motor. So true...... and it will not be built to just "factory specs". A true "Balanced Blueprinted Motor" (to use old world terms) will be built. We all saw how well the 6.1L Mopar "Performance" heads work. I think they are weaker than most aftermarket "Stage I" heads. But it would be nice if a few vendors were using the aluminum block...... ..
